The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a twin-engine commercial jet that has been in use since October 2011. Best known for its environmentally conscious design, more than 80 percent of the Dreamliner body is made of composite materials. This feature contributes to its highly efficient use of fuel. Currently, composite materials are not a dominant feature of any other jet used in the commercial airline market. The Dreamliner is also known for its noise-reducing engine modifications. Advanced sound-absorbing materials on key parts of the jet's two engines make the Dreamliner significantly quieter than other jets of comparable size.
The Dreamliner currently comes in three different variants that differ in size and range: the 787-8, the 787-9, and the 787-10. The 787 Dreamliner is currently used by more than 50 airlines worldwide.
